Lesson Description or Explanation
Through this lesson, the students will become familiar with the vocabulary associated with both the weather and with sports. The class will explore and study practices in countries of native Spanish-speakers. They will also learn the grammar of the present progressive verb tense, adjectives, and demonstrative pronouns.

Assessments- Formative/Summative
Formative: As the students complete the online activities, their scores are kept by the program. These scores will be used to measure their comprehension of the different topics.
Summative: At the end of the lesson an exam will be administered which includes an evaluation of their knowledge of every topic learned in the lesson. This exam grade will be included in their final course grade.

Procedure
Day 1: Learning and reciting the vocabulary associated with weather and sports (10 minutes)
Students will be put into pairs and quiz their partner on translations (15 minutes).
The class will then spend 20-25 minutes on the website provided working on the vocabulary exercises provided, while the teacher monitors.
The last 5-10 minutes of the class will be spent reviewing.
Day 2: Introduction of present progressive tense (15 minutes)

Review (5 min.)
Day 3: Coverage of aspects of Spanish-speaking cultures (20 min.)

Day 4: Summative assessment test

Directions for the different topics and the online exercises will be available in all native languages of students in the class, and teacher can help with other problems.
Challenge/Extend
The website activities are available at varying levels of difficulty. The students’ ability levels will be determined by the test and homework scores, and the level of difficulty of the activity will correspond.
Special Needs
Special need students will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Note-takers, extra time or help on activities and/or tests, and additional instruction and teacher help will be available.
